According to statistics, in 2015, the global demand for major raw materials of sartan drugs (Losartan potassium, olmesartan axetil, valsartan, irbesartan, telmisartan, candesartan cilexetil) reached 3300 tons. The total sales volume was 21.063 billion US dollars.
Fluorinated intermediates. The fluorine-containing drugs synthesized by these intermediates have developed rapidly in recent years because of their excellent curative effect. In 1970, only 2% of the fluorine-containing drugs were on the market, but in 2013, it increased to 25%. Representative products such as fluoroquinolones, antidepressant fluoxetine and antifungal fluconazole account for a high proportion in clinical use, among which fluoroquinolones account for about 15% of the global anti infective market share. In addition, trifluoroethanol is an important intermediate in the synthesis of anesthetics, and trifluoromethylaniline is an important intermediate for the synthesis of antimalarial drugs, anti-inflammatory and analgesic drugs, anti prostate drugs and antidepressants, and the market prospect is very broad.
Heterocyclic intermediates. Pyridine and piperazine are mainly used in the synthesis of anti ulcer drugs, bulk gastric drugs, anti-inflammatory and anti infective drugs, highly effective antihypertensive drugs and letrozole, a new anti breast cancer drug.
