β-Alanine

α-alanine & β-Alanine, Although these two alanine are similar, but the action is very different, is two isomers.

[β-Alanine transmission]

1. What is β-Alanine

Chemical Name:

b-Alanine,(3-Aminopropionic acid); 3-aminopropionic acid; H-BAla-OH;

H-beta-Ala-OH~3-Aminopropionic acid; β-Alanine-14C; beta-aminopropionic acid; 3-Aminopropanoic acid; β-Aminopropionic acid; H-β-Ala-OH; β-Ala; Beta-Ala; b-Alanine

Cas No.: 107-95-9

Molecular Formula: C3H7NO2

Molecular Weight: 89.09

β-Alanine refers to the amino acid bound to the carbon atom of β site, and its amino acid is linked to the β-site of carboxylic acid. β-Alanine has little use in biochemical research, and is mostly used in organic synthesis, petrochemical industry, medical treatment and so on. β-Alanine is the only natural β-Alanine. Other β-Alanines can only be produced by synthesis.

2. β-Alanine-the only naturally present β-Alanine

The pure product of β-Alanine is white prism crystal or white crystal powder. In nature, it can exist in the nodules of leguminous plants, in the brain hydrolysate of tea and mammals, and in tobacco leaves and flue gas.

1 structure

β-Alanine is the only spontaneous amino acid in biochemistry, and its amino group is located in the β site of Carboxylate. According to IUPC's naming rules, it should be called 3-amino-alanine. Unlike its common analog L-alanine, β-Alanine has no chiral center.

2 metabolism

In organisms, β-Alanine is not involved in the synthesis of proteins or enzymes. Usually, it is produced by the degradation of dihydrouracil and carnosine. β-Alanine is also an important component of spontaneous carnosine and vitamin B5. Under normal conditions, β-Alanine is eventually metabolized to acetic acid.

3 synthesis

β-Alanine was not found in the hydrolysate of protein, and the synthetic pathways were as follows:

It can be hydrolyzed and refined from sericin, gelatin, corn prion and other proteins, and can also be synthesized by chemical method.

Aspartic acid can produce β-Alanine under the action of aspartic acid decarboxylase.

Acrylonitrile reacts with ammonia in diphenylamine and tert-butylalcohol solution to form β-aminopropionic nitrile, which is obtained by alkali hydrolysis.

4 side effects

The study found that if the intake of β-Alanine (taken in solution or capsule) exceeded 10mg per kilogram body weight, it would induce sensory abnormalities. The specific symptoms depend on the individual and the dose taken. However, the study also found that if the chicken soup extract containing histamine acid ingested β-Alanine, it would not induce abnormal feeling.

[use of β-Alanine]

[use 1] A variety of biological reagents and organic synthetic intermediates can also be used in microbiology and biochemistry, which are very important in biology.

1. The raw materials of pantoic acid and calcium pantothenate used in the synthesis of pharmaceutical and feed additives.

Panic acid is vitamin B5, which is composed of βalanine and hydroxybutyric acid.

2. β-Alanine can also synthesize these important substances: carnosine (combined with histidine and other), CoA (coenzymes A), pamitronate, barbaritine, etc.), so it is widely used in medicine, feed, food and other fields.

[use 2] It is used as corrosion inhibitor for electroplating.

Electroplating corrosion inhibitor is a chemical substance or complex that can prevent or slow down the corrosion of materials when it exists in the environment (medium) in the appropriate concentration and form, so the corrosion inhibitor can also be called corrosion inhibitor.

[use 3] as an additive for food and health products (sports nutrition)

β-Alanine is one of the few precursor substances of carnosine. It has been proved that supplementation of β-Alanine helps to increase the content of carnosine in muscle tissue, thereby eliminating fatigue and improving muscle activity.

[exercise nutritional use of β-Alanine]

β-Alanine is the second most supported exercise nutrition in the world after creatine. β-Alanine powder is more popular in Europe and the United States. It is generally believed that β-Alanine can act with L-histidine and increase the content of carnosine in skeletal muscle. β-Alanine powder is suitable for those who take part in sports that need explosive power, such as sprint, weightlifting training or boxing, which plays an obvious role in improving explosive power and is also an ideal choice for long-term endurance sports participants.

The best intake before training: 1.6 -2.0 grams, do not take more than 6 grams a day, otherwise there will be certain side effects, will cause physical discomfort!

It slows muscle fatigue by promoting carnosine, a buffer in muscles. Carnosine absorbs hydrogen ions produced in high-intensity training. During training, with the increase of hydrogen ion level, the ph of muscle will decrease and produce more acid. The decrease of ph directly affects the contractile ability of muscle. β-Alanine increases the concentration of carnosine, thus resisting the decrease of ph and enhancing muscle endurance.

When taking β-Alanine, the skin may have a slight tingling, itching, and redness of the skin, which is a completely normal physical reaction and harmless to the human body.
